My research interests centre on Black identity in the arts and contemporary Japanese art, with a particular focus on emerging artists. I’m especially drawn to questions of race, diaspora, identity, empire, and migration, and both postcolonial and decolonial methodologies, particularly in relation to the impact of the Harlem Renaissance on Black social life, as well as the legacy of the Windrush Generation and their contributions to Black British identity.

I am an enthusiastic and passionate advocate for making the art world more accessible to underrepresented and marginalised communities.
